A woodman had two sons. Every day he went to the forest to work and took his sons with him. They helped him. One day the father said, “You are big boys now; you can go to the forest without me. I shall stay at home and rest.” The boys answered, “And if our cart breaks, who will repair it?” “My sons, if you break the cart, call Necessity. She will tell you what to do!” The brothers went to th forest, they worked there , but on the way home the cart broke. They began to shout, “Necessity, come and help us!” But Necessity didn’t come. Then one of the brothers said, “Necessity doesn’t come. Let us try to repair the cart without her,” They began to work and soon the repaired the cart. At home the boys said to their father, “We called Necessity but she didn’t come. So we repaired the cart without her.” “That’s fine ,my boys,” said the father, “that was Necessity! You called her and she stood near you and helped you. It is not for nothing that we say, “Necessity is the mother of invention.”
